The Launceston Saints Supporters Group is still smiling even though there is no football to support at the moment. Instead, their smiles are reserved for their second love of supporting their local community which they have been doing season after season. Today, the Launceston Benevolent Society is receiving a cheque for $500.00 to purchase much needed food for their emergency food relief program.

Ray Jones, President of the Launceston Saints Supporters Group, said “Our group is made up of volunteers of likeminded St. Kilda Saints Supports who raise and donate money and support local charities and worthy causes. This comes from our values of Respecting and Celebrating the past, embracing the future and supporting the needs of many. The Launceston Benevolent Society is always on our annual giving list. They are such a worthy organisation who give back to the community in so many ways. Two of our own members, Bev and Rob, have given many years of volunteer service to the Society and they have seen this firsthand.”

“As with many organisations today, fundraising is becoming more and more challenging and our group gratefully acknowledge the local businesses as well as the St Kilda Football Club for their support and fundraising merchandise. We also encourage others to follow suit and donate much needed money or non-perishable food to the Society,” said Ray.

The CEO of the Launceston Benevolent Society, Rod Spinks, said “The Launceston Saints Supporters Group have been a long-time supporter of our Society and their generous donation again this year is very much appreciated. Even though they can’t cheer on their team at the moment, we can certainly cheer on this group for the wonderful support they continue to provide our community. May another Premiership be just around the corner!”
