The Launceston Benevolent Society will maintain basic food relief services through this difficult period, however we need the support of the community in order to keep our doors open for those most in need.

Clients requiring our help can still do so by calling us on 6344 4213 to pre-order a food relief parcel. We have suspended face to face interviews, however we will continue to support our clients by assessing their needs over a phone interview.

From Monday 22nd March, clients will have to collect their pre-ordered food parcel from our roller door entry at the front of our premises at 5 Innocent Street, Kings Meadows at their allotted pick-up time. This will ensure we maintain social distancing and protect both our clients and volunteers from the risk of spreading the virus. Many of our volunteers are in the high risk category so we must do all we can to protect them from the risks of the virus.

From Monday we will also suspend our clothing and furniture services so that we can focus on providing emergency food relief. This means we will be unable to accept donations of clothing, furniture and household goods until further notice.

However, we are in desperate need of food donations so we are calling on the community to continue to support us with food or monetary donations. Financial donations can be made on our web site at www.lbs.org.au. Food donations can still be delivered to our premises at 5 Innocent Street. We just ask you to call us when you are there so we can come out and assist you. We are open for food donations from 9.30 am to 12.00 pm Monday to Friday.

The demand for food relief is already increasing and we can see the needs for our services increasing substantially over the comings days and weeks. For us to continue to assist those most vulnerable we need the help of the community. Therefore, there has never been a greater need or time to support your local charity
